It has good general resistance to oil along with good mechanical properties, especially tensile strength, flexing, compression set, and impermeable to gases. It has moderate aging properties and good adhesion to metal. It also displays good resistance to inorganic chemical products except for antioxidant agents and chlorine.
Silicone Rubber is physiologically inert, thus making it the preferred choice of medical, pharmaceutical, and food processing industries. Its resistance to oil and hydrocarbon products is fairly limited and similar to that of Neoprene rubbers. The material is FDA compliant.
EPDM rubber has an excellent operating temperature range of -30°C to +120°C. It is highly recommended for outdoor uses as it is extremely resistant to oxidation, U.V. rays, and ozone. It is resistant to many chemicals and solvents as well as corrosive chemicals.
It can be used in many applications such as:
• Gaskets and seats
• Pads and strips
• Variety of sealing applications (particularly outdoor).
